Workforce Housing Initiative

Cape Cod is a great place to live, but it’s not easy finding a place to live in. The workforce housing initiative tries to make that a little easier with innovative options open only to Broad Reach staff members.

Getting Started

A transitional option can sometimes be the perfect beginning. Our six-bedroom residence in Brewster is fully-furnished and set up for shared living, with private rooms for each, fridge and TV in each room, and shared kitchen, living room and dining room. Each occupant contributes $145/week toward the expenses of the house, including all utilities and maintenance.

Better Options in Apartment Finances

The high cost of Cape Cod real estate has made “cheap rent” a thing of the past (if it ever existed). So, we need to do better.

Broad Reach Highland Lodge

The Captain Haskell Rose building at 1455 Main Street in West Chatham has become the Broad Reach Highland Lodge. Its first floor is home to Broad Reach Hospice’s field office.

Upstairs, there are six 1-bedroom apartments.

Misty Meadow Residences

In the late 1980’s, the “Portside” apartments were built just behind the property where The Victorian Assisted Living Residence now stands. One of the eight unit buildings has become Broad Reach’s Misty Meadow Residences.

These larger 1 and 2 bedroom apartments feature fireplaces additional storage and parking add options which can be attractive to families.

Misty Meadow’s easy access to the North Chatham Broad Reach campus can also ease the expenses associated with transportation.

Over time, all of these units will become the next phase of our unique workforce housing initiative.

These apartments feature a number of special pricing options for employees and candidates for employment, including:

  • Preferred access.
  • “Better than Market” rents, from $1,300 - $1,800 per month.
  • Rent deferrals – initial period, seasonal (when utilities are higher in the winter!).
  • First/Last/Security considerations – reducing out of pocket cash.
  • Weekly payroll deduction rather than writing big checks on the 1st.

Units are available to both current and prospective full-time employees.
