Dr. Mita Gupta

Associate Medical Director at Broad Reach Hospice and Liberty Commons

Dr. Mita Gupta, Associate Medical Director for both Broad Reach Hospice and Liberty Commons, comes from a family of physicians.   Both of her parents are doctors who emigrated to this country from India in the 1970s. 

Dr. Gupta grew up on Long Island and followed in their footsteps, graduating from Dartmouth College and New York Medical College, focusing on internal medicine in Rhode Island, then coming to Cape Cod because her husband is from Brewster. She joined the Emerald Health Care practice, then Cape Cod Hospital while also serving as medical director at another Lower Cape skilled nursing facility.

“Some of my primary care patients were supported by Broad Reach Hospice, so I became familiar with this service and was very impressed,” she recalls. “When I heard there was an opening for an associate medical director there, I thought it would be a great fit.” She joined the Broad Reach Hospice team in May, 2020 and was a fortunate addition to Liberty Commons in March, 2024.

In addition to the provision of primary care, much of Dr. Gupta’s work involves team coordination, certifying new patients, making assessments, reviewing needs, checking medications, offering expert advice.

In addition, she continues to maintain an active community primary care practice at the Fontaine Medical Center in Harwich. That’s a busy but manageable schedule. 

“I can handle my responsibilities throughout my day which creates flexibility, and I love that,” Mita adds, which can also help around the home; she and her husband, returned to Brewster, have two children and a bulldog who is also very much part of the family.
